emmerich stands at 6’3 and has a square-build, something he uses to intimate people. he has golden-blonde hair that falls to his ears, and skin that’s naturally pale but has tanned from being outside a lot. he’d look like you’re typical prince charming really, if it weren’t for his eyes—they’re a cold, dark brown. so dark that at times they can look like empty black pits. just a small insight into what’s he’s really like.

to an outsider, emmerich appears charming and charismatic. over the years he’s mastered appearing this way, because it helps him get the things he wants. but those who’ve known him for a long time know the truth. emmerich is incredibly selfish, willing to scoop to the lowest depths in order to get what he desires. he has a need to win at everything, and cannot stand being beaten. he treats people like play-things, and gets enjoyment from it, because he knows they’re not.

being prince, emmerich naturally comes from two high-born families. his mother’s side is the royal family of kenelm, and his father’s a house of great lords and ladies. if you were to trace his family tree, you’d see that for generations every ancestor had some kind of title. he is an only child (and very happy about this; no siblings means no one trying to steal his throne).

from the day he was born, emmerich was spoiled. his mother, although cold, gave him everything he could possibly want. If he asked for it, it would be his. his father was less keen on this approach, but made up for it by teaching him archery, sword-fighting, and taking him on hunts. he rather liked hunting; the chase was fun, it fulfilled his need to win, and he discovered this peculiar enjoyment for the fear and pain of animals. when emmerich was thirteen, his parents began to fight. there was a particularly nasty one, with lots of screaming and clatter, which ended in his father storming out. a few days after that, lyall disappeared. emmerich always assumed his father had left, probably gone to edora or something. the kingdom got much more interesting after that, with only mother around.
