charon's age doesn't show at all in his appearance - this is because of his being a faerie. he has eyes the color of the ocean at midday, sparkling and beautiful as it is dangerous, for it could easily hide his true feelings. he sports slightly mussed brown hair that is frequently cut short to retain tidiness without having to style it. he has prominent cheekbones, a straight nose, and naturally pink lips that are sometimes glossy after he's bitten it. he has a strong jawline that is supported by the rest of his body, which is proportionate and just as angular.
he is very greedy and ambitious. so much so, that he has vowed to himself that he would one day rule over the nymphs, the faeries, and all the other people. his position being a viscount at the queen's court is like adding insult to injury, since he is constantly reminded of the reputations, the titles, that he does not have. though polite and cordial on the outside, charon might just as well be gritting his teeth as he bows to the people in court - but this exposure led him to be an expert at hiding his real emotions and intentions. like any other right-minded man, charon likes women... probably a lot more than he should. surprises make him feel out of control, and he hates that, as well as being dirty. it doesn't help that he is a diluted form of anthropophagi, or cannibal faeries, meaning the scent or sight of human blood would send him into a mad feeding frenzy. because his blood is diluted, the need to feed is not as regular, although he has to do so every six months or so.
charon has no family to speak of. his father and mother are both dead and gone, and he has no siblings that he knows of. there are other cannibal faeries, but he is not aware if he is related to them. his father used to be an earl, and being the heir apparent, the next title and the honor of going to court went to charon at his father's death.
charon was born to his aenas and persepine. his childhood was mostly spent on watching things, and as he grew, he soon began to notice a pattern forming among similar situations. seeking to experiment with this theory, charon launched into a lifting speech when a faerie acquaintance lost her grandmother's earrings; lo and behold, charon had comforted the faerie effortlessly. thus, he began to practice his 'people-skills' and soon developed a convincing, charming personality. he was affected mentally whenever he saw his father feed - he always watched him by accident - and it made him develop a disliking for the devouring he has to endure. because his father was more anthropophagi than charon was, his urges were more often than his son's. aenas' death was caused by a human, who had retaliated with an iron weapon (charon's not quite sure what it was) before aenas could eat him, while persepine died from old age. charon was only seventeen when this happened, a considerably young age for his kind, but if he was ever sincerely affected by it, he had never displayed it outwardly. perhaps it was the pride, or the excitement of being in court, that distracted him from his mourning. nevertheless, his untimely abandonment was often pointed to as the culprit for his ambitious streak, that it led him to think that having power, success, and glory, would ensure that he would never be left alone again. either way, charon had become a genial court member with extraordinary courtesy and a hidden agenda. after all, every story needed a villain or two.
