RULES

! RULES ! Rules. They’re pesky little things, but required if a site is to run smoothly. Follow them to the best of your ability, and everyone will get along.
CONDUCT Respect your fellow members and staff. Bullying, insults, harassing, and general rudeness will not be stood for. There is absolutely no reason to act like that, and you make yourself look like a complete douche by doing so.
Don’t start drama. That means no saying or doing anything you know will cause a backlash or offend people. No trolling either. Trolls get immediately banned.
If you have a problem with another member, you keep it off the site or have staff help you sort it out. What you should definitely not do is drag it onto any of the boards, channel it through your characters, or post about it in the cbox. All three of those will be considered starting drama.
REGISTERING First things first, anyone can join the site. I don’t like when rp forums have something against beginners. Weren’t we all beginners once? So long as you’re able to stick to these rules, behave properly, and can speak decent English, it’s fine. Don’t be afraid to ask questions either, that’s how you learn.
When you post your application, you have a week to finish it and make any necessary modifications. If it’s not complete by then, it gets deleted. I don’t want the applications board full of ancient apps that have no hope of ever being finsihed.
Also, if you’ve posted it incomplete, put something like W.I.P. on it so we know, and take it off once you’re done (or change it to “finished” even). Otherwise I’m not going to be able to tell. I don’t want to accidentally delete your app because I thought you weren’t done, and you don’t want to have to redo the entire app – so it’s helpful to both of us.
CHARACTERS Right now, there is no character limit. You can have as many as you please, provided you’re able to keep all of them active.
Mary-sues are a big no-no. They’re not professional, and no fun for people to rp with. So if I contact you about having a sue, please don’t be butthurt. I’m not trying to attack your character. In fact, I’d be more than willingly to help you improve them. If you’re unsure what the term means, google it.
If you’re playing a canon character, you might get trusted with some secret information about them. Leaking is never a nice thing to do, so I am going to be very cross if I find out you’ve gone and spoiled it.
Canon characters work on a first-come-first-serve basis. If you throw a strop because of this, it's not going to make you look very mature.
GRAPHICS You should have a 130x200 avatar. It doesn’t have to be fancy. It’s mostly there so people can tell at a glance roughly what a character looks like.
Signatures are optional, and can be whatever size you’d like – within reason. If it stretches the page, it's gotta go.
You can use gifs for your avatar and signature, but they can’t flash or be too fast moving. Some people get seizures from that kind of stuff.
POSTING Keep in mind while posting, proboards has its own set of rules. Stuff that can be seen as “pornographic” or “glamorizes” illegal substances you want to keep away from.
If you have to mention an extremely touchy subject like anorexia or rape, put a red warning at the top of your post saying so. People get triggers from that stuff.
Swearing is permitted, but please don’t too vulgar (in or out of character). It makes some people uncomfortable, and it’s a bit tasteless.
We have no set wordcount. It’s not the quantity that matters after all, it’s the quality. Just write as much as you can, and don’t pop out a measly 100 words when you’re partner is pushing out a well-written 1000. That isn’t fair and you’re not giving them much to work with.
Try and use proper spelling and grammar. Obviously everyone makes mistakes, but if you think you’ve missed something or aren’t a fan of proofreading, run it through spellcheck before you post, okay?
Absolutely no-god modding. Imagine if someone took control of you, and started making you say and do whatever they felt like? If you want to make another character do something, you need to ask the person and run it by them what you’re gonna do, and if they say yes only then can you do it. If you try to kill off someone else’s character without their permission, it’s an instant ban.
ACTIVITY Please, please, please try and stay active. I don’t like pressuring members, because I think that’s unfair, but please do. I don’t want this site to die, and I’ve got lots of lovely events planned, but they can only happen if the forum has lots of active members, okay?
If you are playing a cannon character, you must be active. If you’re not, the plot is going to stop or come to a full halt, even. That’s not fair on everyone else involved. If you repeatedly take unexplained abstinences, or far too long to post, your character’s going to be taken away from you.
If you’re gone for more than a months, you’re character will be declared “missing” and their application moved to the graveyard. You can bring them back, just by pming staff.
If a thread hasn’t been posted in for a month, it’ll get moved to the archives. You can bring it back by pming staff, but only the once.
