HUMANS
Humans came to Alytheon hundreds of years ago, from another land called Edora. Historians aren't sure if the creatures already living there, such as the faeries, welcomed them with open arms or hostility. All we know is at some point the relationship got sour and everything went down hill from there.
STRENGTHS Unlike faeries, humans can use magic without it necessarily shortening their life. things that weaken faeries and shifters, like iron, have no effect on them.
WEAKNESSES Humans who don't know magic will be susceptible to galmours, and as defenceless against shifters as they would be with a wild animal.
MAGIC USERS A sub-species of humans. Magic users are humans who've trained for years in the art of magic. Nobody is sure when people first started practicing magic, but Alytheon’s historians have a theory faeries taught nobles it during a time when the relationship between the two races was a good one, as a sign of friendship. As time went on, humans developed their own styles to magic and even commoners began practicing it.
strengths: Magic-users will be more resistant to glamours and illusions cast by faeries (part of the reason why historians think it was faeries who originally taught them).
weaknesses: The more you practice magic, the more it becomes part of your soul. If a skilled sorcerer completely drained you of your magic, you'd probably die. Extremely strong spells like changing something's form or manipulating a mind will also take a toll on the user's life-force.

FAERIES
Faeries have lived in Alytheon for thousands of years. Their relationship with the humans through history is mostly unknown, although historians have made a few educated guesses. In recent years, the faerie's relationship with the human kingdom has taken a turn for the worse.
Faeries live slightly longer than humans (on average, about 100 years) and age slower. However, this long-life and youth as at the expense of their magic; using too much will decrease their life and make them age, and as the end of their life grows nearer they will struggle more and more to do the simplest pieces of magic.
There are hundreds of sub-species of faerie, but they all share two things; the ability to do magic, and iron as a weakness.
STRENGTHS faeries are naturally talented at the magical arts. they're also very good at using glamour magic to deceive and charm people.
WEAKNESSES glamour doesn't work on all humans, especially magic users, who's build up a resistance to it through practicing magic. iron makes all faeries weak, and touching it or being around excessive amounts can stop them doing magic.

SHAPE-SHIFTERS
Shape shifters are creatures that can go between the form on an animal and a human. they can be both naturally born and created by magic. the wild animal they transform into is usually linked to their personality in some way.
if your character is going to be a shifter, please put in brackets what their animal form is.
STRENGTHS Shifters keep some of their animal's abilities while in human form (example; a dog-shifter might have a keen sense of smell whilst human).
WEAKNESSES Not all shifter's can control shifting, or keep their human mind while in animal form. A botched attempt at making a shifter by magic can go very wrong.
NOTE Shifters are rare, so currently there can only be five. This number will go up when there's enough humans. Currently, we have three.
